MINTendo is a virtual event with the theme inspired by 8-bit games, and with retro-futuristc aesthetic, spearheaded by MINT Prod team, with graphics by MINT Creatives; Kumospace is an online virtual hangout.

MINT College held an online event for the new students last September 22, 2021. The theme for this year’s acquaintance party is “retro-futuristic,” with elements inspired by famous Nintendo games. MINTendo 2021 was a fun evening filled with good music and interactive virtual hangout spaces for the college freshmen and senior high school students.

The event was spearheaded by the student-led events production team, MINT Prod. Due to the constraint of the ongoing lockdowns due to COVID-19 pandemic, the team still managed to stage one of MINT’s notable school-wide events virtually. This year, they also had recreated the well-known common areas from the two campuses via Kumospace.

The online site is a virtual hangout space with interactive presets where students can interact with each other once logged in, and can also engage with the various props like food and drinks, tables and chairs, boardgames, and even jukeboxes available per “room”. The new students had this wonderful opportunity to break the ice as they visit the rooms with their online avatars.

The students had a blast being able to talk to each other on the rooms provided for them. The rooms include: the famous Caf—the common area/cafeteria for students at the McKinley campus, and Bento—the name of the cafeteria/open space at the Pasig campus.

It was also a night filled with amazing performers like Xndro, band The Revisors, singers Aby, Cami Juan, and the hiphop duo, Yung JetLi. Guest performer Jhason Dhakal also graced the event. It was hosted by students Miguel Salaya and Corinne Tandoc. W
